A Shared Pet-Care Checklist That Everyone Can Follow
When several people care for the same pet, memory alone can create confusion. A shared checklist makes responsibilities visible and provides a simple way to confirm what has been done. The best version is short, current, and easy to understand at a glance.

Use your actual care plan
List the recurring tasks your household already follows. Include who does each task and where supplies are kept. For medication, feeding, or other health-related instructions, use the current directions from your veterinarian or care provider rather than creating your own rules. Keep sensitive details in a private place.
Separate recurring tasks from occasional jobs
Daily responsibilities belong together; appointments, supply orders, and equipment cleaning can go in another section. Add a date or check mark only after a task is completed. If something cannot be done, leave a clear note and contact the responsible person instead of silently assuming someone else will notice.
Keep one authoritative version
Choose a paper sheet or a shared document, not several competing copies. Review it when routines or professional instructions change. If a sitter is coming, walk through the list with them and answer questions before you leave. A checklist supports communication; it cannot replace a conversation about anything important.
Start with the five tasks most likely to cause confusion. You can add detail later if it solves a real problem, rather than building a system nobody wants to update.
